AUTHENTIC HUNGARIAN BREAD AND BUTTER PUDDING (MÁGLYARAKÁS)

January 16, 2014 1 Comments

As most of cuisine’s have their own bread and butter pudding, hungarian cuisine also has her own authentic dessert on what kids are grown up called Bonfire stuck cake, alias Máglyarakás. This is a frequent treat in the menu of every school meal, as we also ate in my childhood quite often due to my Mum who has worked as a chef for 40 years. Last year I ate an updated version of this in a fine dining restaurant which was absolutely tasty and now I decided to make my own. I didn’t give it a twist, I didn’t want to update I just kept as simple as possible BUT I used the best quality ingredients I had: really nice brioche slices, instead of bread, and home-made apricot jam cooked by my mother-in-law, and some walnut grown in my parents garden. The result was so impressive that my husband who never has been a big fan of that kind of school meals said, it was the best Máglyarakás he had ever tasted. It went quickly so I’m sure we’ll repeat it soon.

You can read my recipe on lovely Eastok Europe website where You can find a lot of interesting articles about many Eastern European countries.  Click here  to check it out please!
